About Copey
Copey Pulitzer is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and lifelong student of human resilience. Known for his optimism and belief that problems are simply challenges to be broken down and overcome, Copey has spent much of his life helping both people and animals find healing and hope.
To help teenagers and young adults better cope and get along with their parents, in 1992, Copey wrote and published a book to called How To Manage Your Parents.
In 2017, Copey founded the Low Cost Animal Medical Center in New Orleans, a nonprofit veterinary clinic created to provide affordable, high-quality care to families and their pets. Since opening, the clinic has served more than 30,000 pet owners and performed over 180,000 visits, making compassionate care accessible to an entire community. His drive to serve others—whether they walk on two legs or four—reflects a guiding belief that empathy with action to help others help themselves is the foundation of a meaningful life.
In 2024, Copey designed, built, and patented a new innovation to clean surgical instruments faster, easier, and more efficient called the Scrub Racks System.
When a dear friend shared with him that he was going through a divorce and could use some ideas with inspiration to more quickly move on, Copey knew he could help. Drawing from decades of personal growth (also called therapy. . .) and lived experiences (more than a few failed relationships. . . ), Copey wrote Happy Heart Handbook—a fast and easy to read journal designed to help readers heal from heartbreak, rediscover happiness, and build a fulfilling future. The book combines reflection, gratitude, and purposeful goal-setting—tools that helped Copey himself turn loss into clarity and purposeful action.
Through this work, he encourages readers to see that every ending is the seed of a new beginning, and that a happier, more centered life starts with small, intentional steps taken to heal and improve from within.
When not writing or serving the New Orleans community, Copey enjoys time with the love of his life, Erin (she wrote this section), his dogs and (her) cat, exploring creative projects, and enjoying good times with his friends.
Happy hearts make hopeful lives—and that’s the mission behind every page he writes.
